A Message from the Scout Executive

Scouting volunteers in the Knox Trail Council recently received the following letter from the Scout Executive, Matthew J. Budz:

October 3, 2013

Greetings Scouters,

Hope this note finds you well and in great Scouting spirit.

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of canoeing the Saco River up in Maine with my son's troop and a troop out of Wellesley. What a great experience for all of the scouts and leaders, all 60 of us!

Scouting for Food - Save the Date

In cooperation with the Wellesley Food Pantry, Wellesley Brownies, Daisies, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are participating in the annual National Good Turn, "Scouting for Food." All food they collect will benefit the Wellesley Food Pantry, currently serving over 210 Wellesley households. Residents are asked to fill the plastic Roche Brothers bags dropped at their houses the previous weekend and leave them in a location that is visible from the street before 9 AM on 11/2. Donations may also be brought directly to the Food Pantry.

2013 Wellesley Parade

Sunday, May 19

Each year, Troop 185 has the honor of carrying a large American flag in the Wellesley Parade. We need about 12 boys to volunteer for the event. If you would like to help, please tell Mr. Fisher.

The rain date is Sunday, June 2, but it looks as though that will not matter.  If the weather is questionable, check this page:  it will be updated between 10:00 and 11:00 the morning of the parade.  You can also check the official web site for the parade: .

Venture Crew 42

Wednesday, February 13

We are starting up the Venture Crew again! Anyone 14 years of age or older (or in the 8th grade) is welcome to join. This group is co-ed, so tell friends and siblings about the meeting.

Parents are welcome to attend as well to see what the Crew is about.

We will meet next Wednesday, February 13th at 7:30 pm in the St John Parish Center (across the parking lot from St John's school).

The first activity that the Crew can take part in is the Mount Sunapee Ski Trip on February 18th - the permission slip is attached.
