Order of the Arrow (OA) Events

The OA will be conducting its Spring Ordeal the weekend of May 13–15th at Camp Resolute. Those who were elected need to register at www.chippanyonk.org if they have not done so yet. Scouts who are already in the Lodge are strongly encouraged to attend as well—you can also register thru the website. John will be running the kitchen that weekend and hopes to see a large turnout from the Troop. This is also where the Lodge elects its new Chief and officers.

OA Lodges from across New England will be gathering at Hidden Valley Scout Reservation the weekend of June 10–12 at their annual Conclave. Chippanyonk Lodge will be sending a large contingent as we prepare to host the event next June at Camp Resolute. A Conclave consists of activities, training sessions, patch trading, ceremonies and lots of fun. If you have never been to one (and none of our Scouts have) you are strongly urged to register.  (Complete the on-line form, print it, get your parents to sign, and mail with a check and a copy of your BSA medical form to the Lodge at the Council office.)  John plans on attending and hopes many of you can make it as well. Space is limited, so sign up soon.

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT)

This youth leader training course will be offered at Camp Resolute this summer from July 31 to August 5. This course is open to Scouts who are 13 yrs old, First Class, and have John's approval. There is also a pre-course meeting on July 11th. Talk to John if you are interested.

Scout Day at Northeastern University

From Darren J. Costa (Eagle Scout and GM of Marketing and Promotions for NU Men's Basketball):

The Northeastern University Athletics Department is offering a Boy Scouts of Massachusetts appreciation day for the organizations in Greater Boston area, and their families, a chance to experience a Division 1 collegiate basketball game and watch potential National Basketball Association players.

Venture Crew 42

The long awaited activation of our Venture Crew has arrived!

Crew 42 Wellesley has had a long association with Troop 185, dating back to 1994. We have traveled to Alaska, the Florida Keys, Texas and Yellowstone National Park.

Venturing is the 14 (or 8th grade) to 20 year old co-ed division of the BSA. Crews elect a president and officers and plan their own activities under the guidance and supervision of adult advisors.
